Please note that your registration fee is due on February 15. Below is the
email we sent out for this purpose. Account details is there:

On behalf of the Lagos Studies Association, I am glad to inform you that
your proposal =E2=80=9C=E2=80=9D has been accepted for presentation at the =
4th edition of
its conference holding in Lagos between June 27 and 29, 2019. A conference
registration fee of N10, 000 (ten thousand naira) is required for your
paper to be included in the conference program.* Payment deadline is
February 15, 2019. *The registration fee covers nine meals (breakfast,
lunch, and dinner) during the three-day conference, bag, and writing
materials.  *There is no onsite payment option.* All our 67 panels at the
last edition of the Conference in June 2018 held because participants paid
registration fee ahead of the conference. Pre-payment of registration fee
is the only assurance that a participant would attend a conference and a
way to minimize a no-show situation, which damages the reputation of any
conference.



Pre-registration is NOT based on the number abstracts accepted but on
participation. So, everyone listed on an abstract would have to pay the
registration fee=E2=80=94regardless of if they would be physically present =
at the
conference. If you want us to remove the name of your co-presenter who is
unlikely to attend the conference, please let us know. If you are
presenting two papers, you have to make just one payment. By mid-January,
we will send you the bank account details of the LSA to deposit the
registration fee.



It has taken us a while to open an official account for the association in
Nigeria because our Certificate of Incorporation only came out last June,
in addition to other regulations we have to follow based on our affiliation
with other international organizations such as the African Studies
Association of the United States. However, the bank requires the signature
and physical presence of three signatories of the account, at the bank.
Only our Vice President Dr. Akeem Akinwale and Dr. Yetunde Zaid are based
in Nigeria. As the President and one of the signatories to the account, I
will not be in Nigeria until last week in February. We can't wait till next
month to start collecting registration fee because this would delay the
release of the preliminary program (which has traditionally allowed us to
give international visibility to the conference) and alter the regular
calendar which allows us to remain on schedule and continue the tradition
of excellence that this association and conference are known for.



Hence, we will use my personal bank account, as we have done before, to
collect the registration fee. The deadline remains the same--*February 15,
2019*.
