So, the details are there is a short CAL-specific training session = taking place from 12-1pm in the Guild Council Chambers, followed by a short= social from 1-2pm where there will apparently be food (hopefully provided = by the Guild). If you have any issues with the Guild side of the process, o= r aren't hearing about their extra training sessions then you can contact H= oumaa Chaudry (h.chaudhry@guild.bham.ac.uk<mailto:h.chaudhry@guild.bham.ac.= uk>) who is the CAL contact at the Guild. Do make sure that you put our initial meeting in your calendars - Wednesday= 6th November - for us to elect the senior rep and take a look at the some = of the key topics likely to be on the agenda for the meeting later in Novem= ber so that you can go back and discuss them with the students you represen= t. For the DL reps I will be emailing you the things I give out to the camp= us based reps (and to all others who can't attend on the day) so that you c= an also get a sense of what are the issues for discussion. Without you the process of Student-Staff forums wouldn't work and f= inding ways to get student concerns heard and get your input on how the CAL= Graduate School manages your admin, what events we organise, and how we ca= n best support you would be much harder. As part of your role you'll be abl= e to discuss how the Library responds to PGRs demands and ask questions abo= ut the Wellbeing provision for PGRs in CAL. You have now, hopefully all been invited to the CAL-rep specific training t= aking place on Monday 28th October from 12-1pm (if not this may be because = you haven't completed the short canvas training module that you have been s= ent - please do so as that will mean the Guild will start emailing you with= their planned training and development schedule for the year) and to the l= unch following it from 1-2pm where we can have a preliminary discussion and= (possibly) get candidates for the Senior rep who acts as the co-chair for = the committee and also attends the CAL Graduate School Board (every two mon= ths) to provide student feedback on those discussions. We then need to have= a preliminary meeting to elect our Senior Rep(s) and we can also look at s= ome of the items that will be coming up for discussion at the main meeting = later this term - I am proposing a date of Wednesday 6th November at 3pm fo= r this, so do let me know if that would work for you.
